How difficult is the Pedra da Gávea hike?

This is a strenuous and technically demanding hike involving steep terrain, scrambling and exposed sections. Good physical fitness, mobility and confidence at heights are strongly recommended.

What is the Carrasqueira?

The Carrasqueira is a steep and exposed rock section encountered on the route to the summit. Your guide will provide instructions and appropriate assistance for navigating it safely.

How long does the experience take?

The complete round-trip hike generally takes between six and eight hours. Timing varies according to the group’s pace, trail conditions and time spent at the summit.

Can children participate in the hike?

Participation depends on age, fitness, hiking experience and comfort with exposed terrain. Please share the child’s details before booking so the guide can evaluate whether the hike is appropriate.

What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

The hike may be postponed, adapted or rescheduled if rain, strong winds, low visibility or trail conditions make the ascent unsafe. Safety remains the priority throughout the experience.
