Understand Rio Beyond the Postcards

Beginning in Barra de Guaratiba, follow a private guide along forested coastal trails far from Rio’s urban beaches. The route crosses hills and natural viewpoints before descending toward a succession of secluded stretches of sand framed by Atlantic Forest, rocky headlands and open ocean.

Visit Inferno, Funda, Meio and Perigoso beaches before continuing toward the Secret Passage, with stops adapted to the group’s pace and trail conditions. How difficult is the Hidden Beaches hike?

This is a demanding coastal hike involving steep ascents, descents, uneven terrain and several hours of walking. Good physical fitness and previous hiking experience are recommended.

Do we visit the five locations?

The complete itinerary is designed to include Inferno, Funda, Meio and Perigoso beaches together with the Secret Passage. The guide may adapt the route if weather, trail or group conditions require it.

Can we swim during the experience?

Swimming depends on sea conditions and is never guaranteed. These are wild beaches without lifeguard supervision, so participants must follow the guide’s assessment and exercise caution near the water.

Are there facilities along the route?

Facilities are extremely limited or unavailable after leaving Barra de Guaratiba. Participants should carry sufficient water and any personal essentials recommended before departure.

What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

The experience may be postponed, shortened or rescheduled if rain, strong surf, heat or trail conditions make the complete route unsafe.
