FAQ – Atalaia Trail Natural Pool Experience

Does the Atalaia Trail require advance booking?

Yes. Access must be reserved in advance, and daily spaces are limited to protect the natural pool. Availability depends on the low-tide schedule and the park’s operational conditions.

Is entry to the Marine National Park required?

Yes. Atalaia is located within Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park, so each visitor must hold a valid park ticket in addition to the trail reservation.

Can I wear sunscreen in the natural pool?

No dermocosmetic products, including sunscreen, may be used before entering the pool. This rule helps protect the corals and other sensitive marine organisms.

Can I stand inside the pool?

No. Visitors must remain floating with a life jacket, mask and snorkel. Standing, kneeling or leaning on the bottom is prohibited to prevent damage to the coral ecosystem.

How difficult is the trail?

The shorter Atalaia route is considered moderately difficult and follows approximately three kilometers of earth and rocky terrain round trip. Extra care is required during rainy periods, when the trail may become muddy.
