When Darkness Awakens the Rainforest

As daylight fades, accompany an experienced naturalist into the rainforest on foot or by boat, depending on your location and itinerary. With artificial light kept to a minimum, your senses gradually adjust to the darkness as unfamiliar calls, movements and reflections reveal a completely different side of the Amazon.

Your guide helps identify the insects, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal species that may appear along the way, while explaining how the forest changes after sunset. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but the silence, sounds and heightened awareness make this one of the Amazon’s most immersive experiences.

Is this safe to explore the Amazon by night?

Yes. The experience is led by an experienced naturalist and follows routes selected according to local conditions. Guests must remain with the guide and follow all safety instructions.

Will we see wildlife?

No specific sighting can be guaranteed. Depending on the location and conditions, you may encounter insects, frogs, reptiles, nocturnal birds and other species active after sunset.

What should I wear?

Wear long lightweight pants, a long-sleeved shirt and comfortable closed shoes. Insect repellent and clothing suitable for humid conditions are also recommended.

Is the experience physically demanding?

The level of activity depends on whether the experience takes place on a forest trail, by boat or through a combination of both. The route can be adapted to your physical condition.

Is there a minimum age?

The recommended minimum age is eight years. Children must remain closely supervised and be comfortable spending time outdoors in darkness.
