The experience begins with a guided walk along the Atalaia trail, a protected path that crosses a dry, open landscape before reaching the coastline. The contrast between the terrain and the ocean ahead builds gradually, creating a strong sense of arrival.

Access to Atalaia is strictly controlled by the national park, with a limited number of visitors allowed per day and mandatory scheduling in advance. This ensures the preservation of the area and keeps the experience remarkably uncrowded.

At the end of the trail, natural pools form among volcanic rock formations. During low tide, these pools become calm, shallow environments with exceptionally clear water.

Snorkeling here is less about covering distance and more about observation. Small marine species gather in these protected areas, often at very close range. Visibility is typically excellent, allowing for a quiet and detailed interaction with the underwater environment.
