The experience

Float Above Rio’s Natural Landmarks

Begin at Pedra Bonita, where you will meet your tandem pilot and prepare for the flight with a complete safety briefing. After a few controlled steps at takeoff, settle into the harness as the paraglider rises above Tijuca Forest and Rio’s dramatic southern landscape.

Enjoy the sensation of floating through the air while taking in views of Pedra da Gávea, São Conrado, the Atlantic coastline and the surrounding mountains. Guided entirely by your pilot, the flight follows the available air currents before descending toward the beach below.

FAQ – Paragliding in Rio

Do I need previous paragliding experience?

No. This is a tandem flight, and the pilot controls the paraglider throughout the experience. You only need to follow the instructions provided during the briefing and takeoff.

What is the difference between paragliding and hang gliding?

Paragliding uses a flexible fabric wing and places the passenger in a seated harness, generally creating a gentle floating sensation. Hang gliding uses a rigid wing and a more horizontal flying position.

How long will I be in the air?

Flight time varies according to wind, air currents and weather conditions. The total duration also includes preparation, the journey to the launch area and coordination before takeoff.

Are there weight or age restrictions?

Age, weight and physical-condition requirements may apply. Provide each participant’s details before booking so eligibility can be confirmed with the flight operator.

What happens if flying conditions are unsuitable?

The pilot makes the final decision based on wind and weather conditions. The flight may be delayed, postponed or rescheduled if it cannot be operated safely.
