About Rio Open
The ATP Rio de Janeiro (formally Rio Open presented by Claro) is a tennis tournament held at the Brazilian Jockey Club in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Matches are played on open clay courts, with a total of nine Jockey Club courts: four for training and five for competitions.
The Rio Open started in 2014 and quickly became a traditional event in world tennis. To date, over 700,000 fans have attended the stands, and the event has been broadcast to more than 140 countries, totaling over 3,000 hours per edition. The tournament has gained significance due to its enormous positive impact on the city of Rio de Janeiro, creating new jobs and boosting important sectors such as tourism.
The tournament champion earns 500 points in the ATP ranking for the victory, the runner-up receives 300, semifinalists get 180, and players reaching the quarterfinals earn 90, and so on.
